In The Shadows

I've been experimenting with shadow photos just for fun, but also to find things that will work for cutting silhouettes for stencils. The other day when Hubster and I took a walk I shot a few.

I like this one he took of me better because I look much taller and thinner than I actually am. Yes, I think I will use this one!

Berries for Breakfast

Berries for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert! Oh how I love raspberries. This is my first bowl of the season. They have such a short season, so as soon as I see them I get all excited and try to eat them every day. These came from Watsonville, Ca. They are the famous Driscoll Farms, famous for strawberries also. I don't like strawberries nearly as much....unless of course they are from the Farmer's Market or straight out of the garden like the ones we had when I was a kid. I don't know why it is but I like all the things that have a very short season....Figs and Pomegranites are two of my other favorites and I overdose on them both when they are available. Maybe it is because growing up we only had things to eat that were grown in the garden or were in season in the area where I lived. Long before things were shipped in containers from all over the world, and we could have whatever, whenever...but in my opinion most of it has no taste. So I am off to eat my berries, and think about how I will have them again...maybe with some yogurt at lunch, in my salad at dinner...and another bowl tonight. Yum!

Blog Abandonment

Well, not really, but it feels like it. I've had problems with the way this thing is set up and still having computer settings issues. Everything takes time and there have been other things demanding mine. So, no excuses, and none of that "sorry I haven't posted" etc. We all have the same amount of hours in the day, right? I've tried to find more, really I have, hasn't everyone?
I find as I have gotten older I really do need to sleep more than 4 hours a night. For years I could get by on that few, but no longer can I function properly without more. This past week, I have had a difficult time sleeping at all, since the unfortunate front porch encounter with a reptile................ I have problems even writing the word s---e. It was Monday last week, around 7 a.m. I wandered out on the front porch with my coffee, to listen to the birds and watch the neighbors head off to work. I was just standing there peacefully surveying my Queendom, and as my eyes swept over the plants, etc. I see a long yellow and black thing that should not have been there. I screeched and spilled coffee all over the entry way rug and myself, and ran back in the house. Hollering at the hubster, who wasn't dressed yet, then running to get my camera(how dumb is that?) Well, hilarity ensued, and hubster took care of the problem. No details available or needed. Anyone who knows me knows about my history of fear of slithering creatures. Anyhow, the rest of the story, I have been having the heebie jeebies all week. Springtime in Texas. sigh

Computer Woes

I've been having computer woes for the past week. Have been sharing my computer with hubby for the past 6 months, which is why the computer is acting up to begin with. Yikes, what a mess. Anyhow, he finally got a laptop and we paid the GeekSquad to come out and transfer all his data over to the new one and clean mine up. Now it seems he cleaned it up so much that I can barely use it. He uninstalled a lot that I need, so I am taking notes for when I call him up to give him heck....LOL Since he did it I think he should fix it! Besides I am not sure how to go about installing any of the things he removed. Anyhoo, thought I would show you my desk while it is clean and tidy. Also the top of the hutch(bottom photo) which is always like this...too much stuff, but that is just the way I am. No getting around it. I clean it off only to pile it up again.

Does anyone know why I keep buying more art stuff when I already have enough to last me the rest of my life? I know I am not alone, judging from the people I talk to, even while standing at the craft store trying to make use of that 40 or 50% coupon. Yikes! It wonder if it is a character defect or just a need to acquire more supplies. I do think I was a lot more creative back in the day when I had a lot less to work with. I focused on using recycled materials in most everything I did. Now there is a ton of "manufactured" stuff made to look as if it were recycled. It is very appealing and I buy right into that need to have those pretty things. Then when I start to make something, I have so much visual overload that I just get stuck. I am saying this after going to Michael's and buying yet another load of goodies just because I couldn't resist. Besides I had coupons after all.

OOPS!

Here's the photo that was supposed to go with that last post.

What was I thinking?

It's time for another post, and I am already thinking perhaps I was a bit hasty in my decision to start blogging. I have really struggled with the technical stuff. I have learned a few new things each day, but it has taken several hours for each one and a great deal of frustration. I can't help but think that I am making it harder than it should be, but it sure is difficult for me to grasp. Isn't one supposed to enjoy this this? I am hoping I will once I don't feel so lost. This is the view of my morning sunrise for Monday and the beginning of another week.
