Walking in Austin

I worked hard most of the week-end, sorting, packing, and just putting one foot in front of the other.  I've been so overwhelmed with all this packing.   What to take, what to leave. It's difficult splitting households when we are going to be spending time in both places for a couple more years.  I've been suffering from spring allergies as well, so feel really tired.  Hub and I took a little break yesterday and went out to the  West Studio Tour.  We visited a few people we already knew, and a few new ones we hadn't heard of.  Met a couple of really interesting artists, and saw some very nice architecture in the process.  Visited parts of town we had never been in, or hadn't been in for several years.  There are too many participants to even see half of them, even with two week-ends to do it.

Walking about I took a few local colorful shots.  Some of these were front yards, some were back yards, which I tend to find really interesting in some of the old parts of Austin. Especially artists places, they always have interesting "junk". Interesting to me anyhow.

  1. Great photos! I like walking around and checking out everyone's yard...although around here you seldom ever get to see anyone's back yard. There are block walls everywhere!

  2. Most artist's studios are in the back so that's the only time we get to go there. At one place, the "fine" artist, (painter and furniture maker) was inside a beautiful very modern house, and the artist I liked better was through the back yard and in the garage. The garage artist used upcycled material so that's why I liked him better, even though the other guys stuff was nice too.

  4. I like the fountain feature & I wish the fence behind it were my fence (so would my neighbors). The light fixtures in front look a bit like Wall-E.
Funny how some things look lovely placed as they are in your pictures & not so much so when they are in my own back yard!

  5. HA HA! Yes, I really liked that stack of bricks with the square table in front of it with the 2 chairs. But if it were in my back yard, it would probably annoy me, because I would think I needed to build something with the bricks!
