Happy New Year 2018

Happy New Year everyone.  It's been a cold couple of days in Austin, TX.  No comparison to what other parts of the country are dealing with I know, but cold for us.  At 12 p.m. it's 28 with a wind chill of 17.  We did have a hard frost last night, we moved our potted plants into the garage and covered the outside ones.  Weatherman said the last temps we had this low were in 2011.  Have heard from friends in other parts of the country, the mid-west and north-east, where it is really cold.  Brother reported -3 in his part of Idaho.

We are lazing about today, Hubby watching football and I am puttering with some paper.  Organizing my planners and getting the new ones set up.
Stack of some older spiral planners and a new red spiral one for this year. Decorated the cover with a page from Anthropologie catalog and some washi tape.

I bought two new turquoise planners at Michaels and some of their boxes of  Happy Planner labels.   I usually make my own labels, but got caught up in the 60% frenzy and talk from several young lady "planners" who told me I needed the latest things.  Ha Ha. They had at least 10 different subjects.  I bought the Appointments, Travel, and Wellness sets.  We will see.  They might be fun. I always love getting the new calendars for the year, just like I always loved getting new school supplies.

Week-end Getaway

I went with the Hubster to an MS fundraiser and dinner party on Saturday, in San Antonio. We spent the night and had a leisurely time on Sunday. We were planning on doing a little sightseeing in some areas we'd never been before. However...I discovered there was an Anthropologie store nearby where we were staying. Of course, that is always first on my list of "sightseeing", no matter where we travel. HaHa We did get to walk around the area before the shops opened at noon, because we got there way early. I gave hubby a bit of a teasing about it, because if we'd checked to see what time they opened, we would have had plenty of time to sight see in other areas. It was nice and cool though and a beautiful morning to just stroll and plenty of places to sit and people watch.

The Anthropologie store was awesome, as they all are. To see the photos I took, go to my other blog. www.barbaradunbar.blogspot.com/ Sorry...I still haven't figured out how to do a clickable link in the blogspot. Someday...

Afterwards he took me for lunch at a little Mexican place he had been to before. It was very quaint and seemed to be where the locals go. That is always so much better than a chain restaurant where you always know what you'll get. Full parking lot is always a good sign that the food is good. The restaurant was pretty large, the front side of it was around the left hand corner of the photo.

We had flautas and chicken fajitas. We had planned to stop for a Starbucks afterward, but were too full. Didn't even have dessert. Traffic was very heavy going home, we got home at 5:30 and I was unpacked and had my p.j.s on by 6:30 and went to bed at 7:30. So nice to be back in my own bed. Hotel beds are never as comfy as ones own bed.

Drats!! It's Another Birthday

Creeping up on me is another birthday. They have a way of doing that, every year. I rarely get excited about them, nor even dread them. It's just another day, really. Only one day older than the day before. Maybe I will just ignore it, as I prefer the age I am right now. Hubby and I have developed traditons, and we don't make too big a deal out of the Hallmark enforced holidays. But we like our birthdays, and instead of just one day, we call it the birthday month. We try to do extra special things for each other when it's our birthday month. We buy each other gifts throughout the year so there's not much left to get for birthdays that we don't already have. So, it's small little gifts throughout the month. So far he's given me things like a bit of rusty wire, and a bird feather he found in the parking lot, an extra coupon for JoAnn's or Michael's, little things like that. He knows it doesn't take much to please me. I like junk, especially found objects.

Jokingly, I told him I wanted him to build me something more for storage, you know, of my junk and found objects. I showed him these two photos. I'm pretty sure he has the tools for these rustic simple designs. I haven't heard any pounding and sawing noises coming from the workshop/garage though, so I think I am going to have to be content with the photos. I know he is making me something paper related though, he asked me where my beads and wire that he could use were located. He has his own little stash of paper goods.

Love Love Love both of these...but Anthropologie prices are way beyond reasonable.
